New DC Comics Solicits feature statues for the upcoming movie and reveal the first Suicide Squad plot synopsis.
Ever since San Diego Comic Con, the Zack Snyder-produced Suicide Squad plot details have been kept mum. Heck, the trailer didn’t even give us any information other than what we can assume. The Suicide Squad plot is being kept under heavy wraps for now, similar to Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, a new synopsis released within this month’s DC Solicits may give us a clue about the film. Thanks to Newsarama for sharing the DC Solicits all the time.
It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
So, the Suicide Squad plot synopsis reveals that there is a big bad “enigmatic, insuperable entity”. There’s far too many DC characters to guess here, but Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor was rumored to be in the script at one point. It’s unknown if Jesse accepted the role and will appear in the film, however. Although, the solicits state Boomerang and Katana will also get statues, with sculptors yet to be determined. That leaves The Enchantress — played by Cara Delevingne — out. Considering she’s yet to appear in a group shot with the squad, it’s safe to say she’s the entity that the squad are initially tasked with going after.
Director David Ayer did indeed get Ben Affleck as Batman to appear in the feature, with that being the first major element of the DC Extended Universe crossovers. The solicits reveal that there will be Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Joker and Killer Croc statues in the first wave retailed at $150 USD each. Images are to come in a future solicit when the statue prototypes are completed.
One has to hope that Warner Bros will reveal more of the Suicide Squad plot in an upcoming trailer, hopefully attached to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to start the first wave of marketing for the super-villain team up. I firmly believe that chain-linking the marketing for the DC Extended Universe will be super important, especially for the risky films like Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad, as well as Cyborg. Many people don’t realize how big of a gamble the DC Extended Universe is for Warner Bros, and many feel it could or definitely will fail. However, they also don’t realize that Warner Bros can completely afford that risk, as the studio is a mega-conglomerate with several original franchises that thrive in foreign and domestic markets.
The phenomenal cast includes Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Jared Leto, Will Smith and Joel Kinnaman. Suicide Squad releases Summer 2016.
