Justice League has cast another fine Oscar winner in the form of J.K Simmons, who will portray Commissioner James Gordon in the Zack Snyder film.
News just broke via THR that Oscar-winning actor J.K. Simmons will portray Commissioner James Gordon in the Justice League feature film.
Before the release of Batman v Superman, rumors were running rampant about the character wondering why he would not appear in the 2016 film (set to release very soon). Considering in the film we see an unused Batsignal that Batman pulls the tarp off of, people were speculating that Commissioner Gordon may be dead in this universe. Now, it seems that it may not be the case as Warner Bros is ramping up it’s DC cast with more Oscar gold.
THR was unclear on whether or not Simmons will be featured as the character in future DC Universe Films or the involvement he has in Justice League, but one thing is for sure; we’re in for a great performance.
Simmons has been extremely busy since winning his Oscar for Whiplash, as he’s appeared in Terminator Genisys, Kung Fu Panda 3, Zootopia and will appear in Patriot’s Day, The Accountant and The Snowman.
For those not familiar with Commissioner Gordon, you’re missing out extremely on FOX’s GOTHAM Television series — starring Ben McKenzie as Gordon — which starts out as a grounded intellectual crime drama now evolving into a fully-fledged insane comic book show, with Nathan Darrow just making his debut as Mr. Freeze. Recent cast additions to the series include Morena Baccarin (Deadpool), Lori Petty (OITNB) and B.D Wong as Hugo Strange. Check it out on Netflix!
Justice League: Part One begins production NEXT MONTH on April 11th, directed by Zack Snyder and written by Academy Award-winning Screenwriter Chris Terrio.
