The Spider-Man veteran Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE.
Justice League just began production last week and now veteran actor Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s superhero ensemble epic in an unclassified “good guy” role, The Hollywood Reporter claims. Dafoe is said to be playing the character in both Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2, slated for November 17th 2017 and June 14th 2019, respectively. Dafoe joins an already large A-List cast consisting of Henry Cavill (Superman) , Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg) and Amber Heard (Mera).
Who is this “good guy” that Willem Dafoe could be playing? There’s plenty of possibilities, and it has to be an important character since Warner Bros is keeping his identity in a vault. However, it’s worth noting he also joins former Spider-Man alumni J.K. Simmons — who plays Commissioner Jim Gordon — in Justice League. Dafoe is famous in the geek community for playing Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movie. Who knows, maybe Zack Snyder is just a huge fan of those films and we’ll end up seeing James Franco as Orion or something. That was a half-joke, but the fact that we’re definitely getting Darkseid (as teased in Batman v Superman by Lex Luthor and hopefully more in the Extended Cut) only adds credence that Zack Snyder is going to do us justice (heh) and push out the New Gods as well! If you don’t know who they are, I advise you either read Darkseid War or watch Justice League Unlimited.
The next DC Extended Universe film is Suicide Squad, executive produced by Zack and Deborah Snyder releasing this summer. After that is Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and produced by Zack and Deborah Snyder.
