It’s an odd thing for us to post about. But since there’s more than one degree of relation to Zack Snyder, we went ahead anyway.
The following is the trailer for David Goyer’s KRYPTON, a new scripted drama series. It hails from the SyFy Network. The project has been in development for several years now. However, the fact that SyFy has passed on DC projects before (Booster Gold) made most forget about Krypton.
The trailer starts with Superman’s grandfather giving a voice over to Kal-El about his home planet. This probably indicates the story will be told through flashback narration. Additionally, it’s clear that David Goyer intends for this to be a Man of Steel prequel. He’s stated previously that the reasoning for the series is so we could explore more of Krypton’s culture depth.
There are many obvious nods to Man of Steel in this trailer. The information key that Kal-El was sent with from the film is present. As well as some of the technology looking extremely similar. In addition to that fact, we see a very similar (not exactly the same) House of El shield from the film.
And for those wondering, Zack Snyder has zero involvement in this series. However, since it’s from the writer of the Man of Steel film we’ll feature it. For now. I mean, all those Star Wars sites write about the glorified fan fiction that is the TV shows, right?
Syfy’s Krypton, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
